What’s a bail premium?
When someone is arrested, their bail is set according to the County’s bail schedule. For example, if someone is arrested for domestic violence, their bail may be set at $50,000. The premium is the amount that you pay to the bail bonds agent. The premium in California is 10% of the the total bail amount. The 10% premium is mandated by the California Department of Insurance.
How long does it take to get bailed out of jail?
That depends. If the person who is arrested is still at one of the local city jails, it usually only takes about 30 minutes to get bailed out. Once a defendant has been transferred to the main county jail in Santa Ana, it can take up to 8 hours to get bailed out. Once someone has been transferred to the main county jail, it is quicker to get in direct contact with a Santa Ana Bail Bonds agent.
How do I pay the bail agent?
The bail bonds company will usually take cash, check, and credit cards. If you don’t have enough money to pay the bail premium, credit can often be extended so that the defendant can be released.
